Character Stats

     
  Status:
  1. Rank or Level - Naval rank or character level.

  2. Fame - Positive influence.

  3. Infamy - Negative influence.

  4. Wealth - Personal funds, property, and possessions.

 
     
 

Motivations:

  1. Fame/Infamy - It's all about the glory.

  2. Wealth - It's the money.

  3. Revenge - An eye for an eye.

  4. Adventure - The excitement!

  5. Power/Ambition - Climbing the ladder.

  6. Duty/Service - Put your heart into it.

 
     
 

Advantages:

  1. Ambidexterity - Able to fight equally well with both hands.  Combat bonus.

  2. Charisma - Bonus officers and crew.

  3. Contact - A specific NPC who can offer information or lower prices;  specify information or Merchant.

  4. Extra Wealth - Bonus to ship's wealth to begin career.

  5. Luck - More good random events than bad random events.  Increased merchant ship sightings and fewer warship sightings.

  6. Strong Constitution - Suffer less from wounds.  Wounds heal faster.

  7. Strong Will - Bonus to interpersonal skills (Haggling, Leadership, Savoir-Faire, Streetwise)

  8. Weapon Specialization - Bonus with specific weapon, penalty with others of same type (e.g. +2 Cutlass, -2 Blades)

 
     
  Skills:
  1. Carpentry - Faster repairs and decreased repair costs.

  2. Discipline - Crew quality increases faster.

  3. Firearms - Improved proficiency with muskets, pistols, etc.

  4. Gunnery - Increased accuracy (extra cannon).

  5. Haggling - Discount prices when buying and higher prices when selling.

  6. Leadership - Increased crew morale.

  7. Medicine - Increased crew health and fewer casualties.

  8. Navigation - More accurate position reckoning and faster travel times.

  9. Savoir-faire - Good manners; positive reaction from NPC's.

  10. Seamanship - Increased ship maneuverability, speed, and sail raising speed.  Avoid storms.

  11. Streetwise - Gather information; bribery; black market; get along with the rough crowd.

  12. Swordplay - Skill with blades (cutlass, rapier, dagger, etc.)

  13. Thievery - Skill at robbery and raids.
